PRUNING

Pruning can be beneficial to a trees health, stability and structure when done properly, and detrimental to it if done improperly. There are various reasons one should prune a tree.

  • Structural Pruning is performed to maintain a tree's ability to withstand strong winds and to promote a strong and reliable structure.

  • "Deadwooding" or Canopy Cleaning is when dead or diseased tissue is removed from a tree's canopy and biomass, dead tissue is often diseased and its removal is therefore promoting health, as well as aesthetics. Deadwood can also be hazardous when over a certain size.

  • Hazard Pruning is intended to mitigate or eliminate the possibility of a failing tree or tree limb impacting a structure, vehicle or person, during this process we try to de-weight heavy limbs.

  • Vista Pruning is used to improve a view that would be otherwise blocked by a tree or its growth, all the while maintaining the health of the tree.

  • Clearance Pruning is a method used to remove growth and redirect it away from surrounding building or structures.

  • Canopy Reductions are used when the desired effect of pruning is to decrease the height of a canopy, care must be taken to choose the correct branches or limbs to be removed.

  • Canopy Thinning is an important method to maintain the health of an adolescent to mature tree. By selecting branches that we can predict will grow into undesirable directions we can maintain airflow and strong structure in a tree.

  • Young Tree Training is paramount to establishing a strong structure in a tree at a young age.

REMOVAL

Removals are recommended when

  1. The tree on your property has been assessed by a trained professional and is deemed to be hazardous.

  2. When the tree is diseased and poses a risk to other trees in your neighbourhood or property.

  3. When a tree has already failed, or is showing clear signs of imminent failure.
